Biography
Richard Amada is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

In addition to establishing Amada Law Office, Mr. Amada is also Of Counsel to Andrew Grosso and Associates, a D.C. firm that is well respected for its expertise in litigation, qui tam (government whistleblower) cases, and Internet law. For five years he worked for the Washington, D.C., law firm of Williams & Connolly as a Special Project Attorney and as a Special Project Attorney Team Leader managing the discovery work process of high-profile, complex litigation. He is expert in the use of electronic evidence software for trial preparation and case management.

Mr. Amada came to the legal profession following careers in television news and public relations. As a TV news reporter, he won six journalism awards, including an Emmy. He is also an award-winning author of more than twenty plays and the D.C./Baltimore Regional Representative of the Dramatists Guild of America. As a professional writer, he has an appreciation for the law as it relates to copyright, fair use, and First Amendment issues. He has lectured on these topics as well as on subjects related to news media and public relations. His book,
An Artist's Guide to the Law, was published by Focus Publishing in 2010. He also authors The Artful Jurist, a blog dedicated to legal issues surrounding the arts and entertainment industries.

A graduate of the University of Arizona’s College of Law, Mr. Amada also graduated with honors with a B.A. in Communications from the American University. While in law school, he was Managing Editor of the Arizona Law Review and a legal advocate in the University of Arizona’s Domestic Violence Law Clinic.
